Town 1 V 0 Dorchester Town - Pre-Season Friendly Yet again Poole Town put in a good performance to more than match practically the Dorchester Town first team at Tatnam. Again Tommy Killick played completely different sides in each half and whilst Dorchester carved out a few decent chances in the first half, Poole more than matched them in midfield and played some good football themselves. The goal came on 53 minutes when Gary Funnell scored from the spot after his own freekick from the right hand side had caused problems in the visitors defence leading to the penalty. |

Taffy
Richardson Signs for Poole Town As most supporters will know, Taffy Richardson had been training with the Dolphins for the last couple of weeks or so and took part in the first friendly at Holt. Whilst the Club offered no official word about trying to sign Richardson in recent days I can confirm that key people at the Club had been working feverishly to try to land the talented midfielder in the face of offers from several other clubs. That effort has now been rewarded as Richardson has now signed Wessex papers with Poole. There is no doubt that this represents a massive signing for Poole and together with the other players at the club it underlines the ambitions of the team to win the Wessex Division 2 title at their first attempt. Full details of the signing and reaction to it can be found on Andy Starmore's site here. |

Holt
United 1 V 0 Poole Town - Pre-Season Friendly Poole Town's first friendly of the season saw them take on Holt at Gaunts Common. This was an excellent extension to the fitness training already started and Tommy played a completely different side in either half. A decent crowd saw a whole host of new players take part at various stages of the match. Amongst the many players used, supporters saw Gary Funnell, Ollie Cherrett, Carl Woodward, Darren Reeks, Matty Hayfield, Neal Spalding, Garry Morris, Paul Manning, Lee Manning, Max Crowe, Paul Maloney, Leigh Cornick, Marc Jackson and Peter Kydd. Playing in goal in the first half was Jason Harvell who was on the books at AFC Bournemouth and is very highly rated indeed. It is hoped that the Dolphins will sign him. In the second half 18 year old Lee Mitchener played in goal and both keepers looked very assured. After training with the team over the last couple of weeks Taffy Richardson played for much of the match and fans have fingers crossed that the much sought after player will sign for the Dolphins. In a match with very little goalmouth action the result was decided by a penalty to Holt in the last four minutes. |

Player
News At pre-season training on Tuesday night both Lee Manning and Paul Manning signed up for the coming season again. A successful appeal against the red card Lee Manning received at Andover New Street also means he will not face a 35 day ban. Garry Morris has returned to the club after a season with Hamworthy United last season. Garry played 33 games for the Dolphins in 2002/03 and scored two goals from midfield. Congratulations to both Matty White and James Wood as they both got married (not to each other!) last Saturday 4th July. Volunteers Required |
