The Football Association announced the long awaited National Leagues restructure at its annual conference in Torquay on June 21st. Full details can be seen on their web site - www.thefa.org

The structure provides some surprises not previously communicated to leagues at our level. There is a two step structure at Wessex League level which would appear to open the way for a Second Division of that league.

However a large majority of Hampshire Premier clubs are opposed to moving to the Wessex League and the Second Division can only be formed if sufficient clubs apply.

Hampshire Premier Changes

It has been confirmed that Winchester City have been promoted to the Wessex League for the coming season.
With no relegations into the Hampshire Premier and with Pirelli General having folded during the summer there will only be 18 clubs in the Premier Division for 2003/04. The full Hampshire Premier fixture list for Poole Town will appear on this site sometime during week commencing Monday 30th June.

There has also been an official name change - Vosper Thornycroft will now be known as V.T.FC.

Player News

Poole Town have signed striker Lee Manning from Wessex League Christchurch. Lee is believed to be Christchurch's top scorer last season with 17 goals.

Ex Bournemouth and West Ham Paul Mitchell has also signed for the forthcoming season adding some invaluable experience to the side.

Karim Benssaouda has now had the appeal against the red card at Micheldever heard. Again they have been lenient and dished out a further 14 day ban. Karim has one more red card to face and currently his ban is from 1st September to 12th October - much better than was first feared.
